About Us

The National Institute for Homeland Security and Anti-Terrorism Preparedness (NIHAP), an independent organization based at Nova Southeastern University's Fischler Graduate School of Education and Human Services, in partnership with Educational Impact, Inc. and Signature Science, LLC., aims to provide educators with action plans, hands-on training, current research and education to prevent, prepare for and respond to terrorist incidents including biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear attacks, acts of school violence, and mass casualty disasters.

NIHAP's Service Offerings Include:
  • Annual Conference — a three-day conference encompassing top training presented by industry leaders and Homeland Security experts focused specifically on issues pertaining to children and schools.
  • Information Clearinghouse — Web site with free access to numerous resources providing information on safety and security for communities and individuals.
  • Online Member Services — paid-for Web site offering members benefits including web- and text-based resources, monthly chat sessions, bulletin boards, a practitioner's network featuring current events, best practices, and case studies from the field, among others.
  • Certificate and Degree Programs — training for K-12 educators, first responders, and trainers in the field of Homeland Security.
  • Online Resources and Training — learning modules in specific content areas using video, case studies, and assessments designed by experts in the field.
